On her birthday, Ivyanna is packed off to Swendel High, a gothic prison with a school timetable. She expects dorm rooms, strict rules and dull lessons. Instead she finds students who defy gravity, eyes that glow in the corridors, and a predatory wolf that corners her in the forbidden woods. None of it is random. Swendel sits on top of a hidden war between Werewolves, Vampires and ancient city clans, and that war is fought quietly, through high-school caste warfare, lethal clique leaders and deadly mind control. Ivyanna is the only human in the middle of it, surrounded by dangerously alluring shifters who each seem to want something from her. The question the story keeps asking is whether she can survive being the only human at Swendel, or whether she is hiding a perilous secret of her own. ## The Factions Behind Swendel High The school is not one community. It is several groups sharing a building and pretending the arrangement is peaceful. ### Werewolves The first real threat Ivyanna meets is a wolf in the forbidden woods, and that encounter sets the tone for everything after. The werewolf side of the story is tied to territory, instinct and the parts of the grounds students are warned to stay out of. The shifters around Ivyanna are described as dangerously alluring, which makes the danger harder to read from the outside. ### Vampires The vampire side of Swendel works through the social ladder: lethal clique leaders, old hierarchies and deadly mind control. Influence of that kind does not need to chase anyone. It decides what other people will do next. For a human with no powers at all, that is a harder thing to fight than teeth. ### The ancient city clans Behind both groups stand the ancient city clans, the older powers in the hidden war. The conflict Ivyanna walks into is not a school fight that ends at graduation. It is a long-running struggle between factions, and the caste warfare in the hallways is only the visible part of it. ## Who Is Ivyanna? Ivyanna arrives at Swendel as an outcast, sent away rather than chosen. She has no obvious place among the werewolves, the vampires or the city clans, and she has to work out who she can stand next to without being used by them. The title calls her the last witch, but the story treats that as an open question rather than a label she accepts, which is part of what keeps the episodes moving. Her position is unusual for this kind of story. She is not the strongest person in the room and she is not secretly in charge. She is the newcomer who notices things, and being the only human at a school full of predators means every conversation carries a cost. ## Why the Story Fits Short Episodes Vertical dramas run on momentum, and this setup gives the format plenty to work with. A hidden war, a caste system inside a school, mind control and a main character with something to hide all create natural stopping points. Each episode ends with a turn that makes the next one feel necessary rather than optional. It also helps that the world is easy to enter. You do not need to learn a long list of houses, bloodlines or magic systems before the story starts. The rules arrive as Ivyanna runs into them, which suits short episodes watched on a phone during a commute or a break. ## Where to Watch the Last Witch of Swendel The full series is on Runotoon: [Last Witch of Swendel](https://runotoon.com/series/last-witch-of-swendel-67917f).
