Owen Hawthorne — calculating, cynical, final-year student — wakes to find he's spent the night with Amelia Jones, a warm, unguarded diner waitress who was a virgin. Determined to handle this with as little messiness as possible, he discovers that Amelia has neither expectations nor any interest in being managed — which unsettles him more than the situation itself. As their lives keep colliding, Owen has to reckon with the possibility that the one person he can't categorize is the one person he actually wants.
