Elie, a brilliant and exhausted nurse, is struck by an ambulance after her third consecutive shift and wakes up inhabiting the body of Princess Elinor — a bullied, skin-diseased princess in a Renaissance-era kingdom, married to a cruel prince about to take a mistress. Armed with modern medical knowledge and the bone-deep stubbornness of someone who spent years being looked down on, Elie decides she won't disappear into the princess's miserable fate — she'll use what she knows to become queen.
