The World's Smallest Goddess
Episode 1

Translated to English

No matter how small it may be, it can surely become a light for someone, somewhere.

This company has,
the "core" that every nation in the world would kill for.
It has a "nucleus".
The GATE network that connects the world.
The guardians who support the nations.
And even deeper than that,
the hidden center.
But anyone who tries to peek into it,
without exception, all of them—
are "healed" and go home.

Don't be fooled by the child's appearance.
Don't move.
Wow, it's tingling!
It's okay~

Um...
The light of a little bird~

Is it mental interference!?
No~
Wh... what is this...
I can't... maintain my hostility...
Maybe I was just tired...
To the rear—
Everyone looks sleepy
It's warm...

Three intruders neutralized
...They're all asleep
Yes, another "nap treatment" this time
That's absurd

Zzz...
According to the records, it's not mental interference...it's a reassuring reaction
Everyone...get along...
Ugh...so kind...

No, Makoto
I used too much power
I can't do it anymore
Hey, Makoto
That's not fair, is it?

What did you say!
Please, only use brute strength for jokes
Alright, that's enough for both of you
Drawing a greatsword is pretty rough for a bodyguard
Please don't show them anything until the new recruits have mastered the basics.
I know.
We're just a guide, after all.

Speaking of which, it's time for the new recruit orientation.
They seem like interesting kids.
Oh, is it that time already?
Yes. One has magic powers, the other is a fire user.
Who will go pick them up?
Captain Sumeragi is freer than us.

The captain is busy with on-site work, so he can't.
How about over there?
Apparently, Kojima-san has finished.
To be put to sleep before punishment...
I see...

Can't be helped.
In times like these—

Let's go pick up the new recruits.
...All the squad leaders will have to go, I guess.
Suppression Squad Leader, Guard Squad Leader, Barrier Support Squad Leader, Guidance Squad Leader?
It's a welcome party for new recruits, right?
That's quite extravagant.
They must be interesting kids, right?
More than extravagant, it's a bit overwhelming.
Well, we'll have to welcome them in a slightly more interesting way.
Alright.
Let's go pick up the two new recruits.
It's not good to be late.
...I hope they don't try to escape on their first day.

Gate Foundation Japan Branch—its main entrance was already an extraordinary size.
The departure and arrival hall for the City Connection GATE is at the base of the building.
It's huge.
I heard it was a logistics company.
People come in, passing through the Gate of Light. People flow into another gate.
...

Who are these people?
...
You're Shiranui Ren and Hitori Yuka, right?
Um, did we do something wrong?
Oh... I see.

No way.
I'll be in charge of guidance starting today.
Yes.
I'm in charge of the Boundary Liaison Office in the Integrated Coordination Department.
Guidance doesn't sound normal.
The content is a little different from the usual new employee training.
I have a bad feeling about this.
I knew it.
Oh.
You're really sniffing it out.
I know it's not just the number of people that's overwhelming.
Heh.

Many of the transportation gates have the operational infrastructure of the Gate Foundation.
The Gate Foundation we know is around here, right?
It's closer to train stations, connecting passages, and airports than to a logistics company.
Yes.
Transportation, logistics, medical transport, disaster prevention and evacuation.
We are a social infrastructure company connecting approximately 200 countries worldwide with GATE.
That's intimidating. The scale is insane.
Well, that's about all that's generally known.
...That's all?

This way.
The road lit up...
Whoa!

You can't go that way.
I can't see it!
By the time you can see it, it's too late.
...The road lit up again.
...I see.
Not a bad reaction.
Huh?

What was that just now?
A greeting.
Don't stop so easily!
You have good eyesight.
Did you stop the pivot point?

Ah
Get it

It's okay
...
Thank you
Thank you very much
...
Even with a good reaction, protect it before you catch it
This person said "catch," not "take." They understand what "catch" means.
...I see

What does "plain" mean?
I'm complimenting you
Makoto is subtly scary when it comes to things like that
That's a rough way to compliment
Well then, this way
You're showing me around, right?
This is an announcement.
The greeting is scary.

This is the Integrated Coordination Department on the main floor.
We mainly operate in the mornings.
We move to the basement in the afternoons.
There are seats, but not many people.
So this is the front counter, and the main office is somewhere else?
That's mostly correct.
Now, let's move on.
This is the security area.

We use the GATE to move around inside the company.
There are eight floors underground.
Eight floors underground?
There's another company below this one, isn't there?
You'll get used to it eventually.
You'll get lost too.
I don't want to get used to it.

This is the Boundary Coordination Room on B2F underground.
A guardian case?
The one at that national gate?
Yes.

...Hmm.
Each country's GATE network has a base country.
...So there's a center?
From the gate... to the GATEs in each region?
And there are those who maintain that gate.
They are the guardians of the nation.

...They're beautiful.
...The guardians of Japan, huh?

If this stops...
Society will stop.
...So that's the job of a guardian.
It's not a job to be in the spotlight.
It's a job to maintain the gate.

And the anomalies that occur beyond the national gate—
cannot be handled by the security on the surface alone.
Activation.
...From here?
Yes, from here.

...Field record?
Field Supervisor/Commander: Koichi Sumeragi

Blockade, Second Layer
Guidance, Flow to the Right
Recovery, Don't Wait
Suppression, Front Line
Guidance Team, Change Streamline
Recovery Team, Deploy
Suppression Team, Deploy
Pressure Team, Advance
...Was that it?
Everyone moved.
That's Captain Sumeragi.
He's the one who directs the situation on the ground.

Sending the white line.
Just look at my back.
I'll take you to the exit.

Step back.
I'll take this.
You won't get behind me.

First layer, deploy.
Wide-area defense formation, Arc Field!
I'll protect our return point first.

We've secured the pivot point.
...!
I can't stand anymore.

...Just now...
Me.
Huh...
Right?

All eight teams... I see.
So, which department are we going to?
It hasn't been decided yet.
You're getting ahead of yourself.
I'll be assigned to suppression.
It's an eight-month rotation. You'll be assigned after training based on your suitability.
Eight months...
That's long.
It's on the shorter side.

What are you doing?
!
...This person.

This is the new recruit's orientation.
...
Four of us?
...Yes.

Four of us?
...

There's a guide.
Excuse me.
I'm in charge of new recruit training.
I'll leave the rest to you.
We didn't need four people after all.
Hey, hey...
Don't you guys run away, okay?
Are you assuming you're going to quit?

So?
Shiranui Aoi
Reacted to the fallen terminal
Tried to change its trajectory and bring it towards herself
Instantly

Magic manipulation?
Yes
The entrance is
The control is rough, but the decision-making is quick.
He was also watching the pivot point.
...I see.
Who's the other one?

Hitori Sora
The moment he was stopped, he didn't try to break free with force.
He didn't thrash around reflexively.
First, he looked at what had stopped him.
...
It was the same when he touched the barrier.
He reacts quickly to dangerous pathways.
For a fire user, he's not just always on the front lines.

...Suited for suppression, perhaps?
The entrance, yes.
But he'd also get caught by the guards.
The reason is...
Because he can stop.

Next is the operational area.
This is the Boundary Preservation Department.
Boundary Preservation...
That's just an internal company name.
Ah, the department of the squad leaders from earlier?
That's right.
Company nickname: Sakai Ho
It's like the sound is being absorbed.
There's no sound...
This doesn't feel like a company tour anymore.
...

...Huh?
...Who is that?

It's the president.
The president!?
He's so young!
It's effective for boosting morale.
It's like fan activity.
It's a public relations strategy.

Do you have any merchandise?
Yes, we have it.
You have it...
Sales are up 128% year-on-year.
And it's selling well...
Please refrain from personal searches during company tours.
That just makes me more curious.

Tenjiro, let's go to the cafeteria.
Understood.
Drive slowly in the corridors.

Thank you for your hard work.
If you're going to the cafeteria, we have pudding today.
Pudding!
Yes, slowly.
Okay.

What was that just now?
It's one of the seven mysteries of Sakaiho.
?
So what was that then?
There was a child on it, though?
It's not normally permitted.
So you're going to push through with that.
It's one of the seven mysteries.
Now, I'll show you to the exit.
This company is kinda scary.
He let it go.

The seven mysteries of Sakaiho, huh...
Well, it's a strange company.
But it's not weak.

The explanation was sloppy...
Maybe it's a shikigami...
And quite powerful at that.
The seven mysteries, huh?

Suspicious...
This is what happens on the first day...
