Episode 4

Translated to English

A meal with comrades after the battle

Welcome. Eat plenty.
Looks delicious.
Because of yesterday's encounter with the "Saint of Black Tears"
So, Captain.
The reason we were called here today is
Is that correct?

Yes, that's right. Absolutely.
Sorry to call you all out on your day off. But I really needed to talk to you right away.
I can't make a judgment. There's not enough information.
What do you all think about Abel?
He didn't seem like a bad guy.
I was surprised that the Black Tear Saint really existed.

The Black Tear Saint is practically a legend now.
Elusive, shedding black tears,
defeating demons,
helping people, or perhaps a demon that steals people's life force.
Captain, do you really want to be friends with the Black Tear Saint?

Yeah. I still feel that it would be nice to be friends.
That feeling hasn't changed.
Why?
Kurosawa's saint is my idol.
The "Legend of Kurosawa's Saint" that I read a long time ago...

I actually saw it with my own eyes.
If there's someone in trouble.
If there's someone who's hurt.
I was convinced.
He heals with his black tears.
He helps.
The "Saint of Black Tears"
is a good guy, just like in the legend.
That's why I want to be friends with him.

The Legend of the Saint that the Captain read...
A book that doesn't portray the saint in any negative light at all...
It was quite favorable, wasn't it?
That's rare, isn't it?
Rare, or rather...
I've never seen anything like it.
The captain studied abroad a long time ago.
He must have seen it then.
...Yeah.
That's right.

...It's about time.
So, what do you want to tell the captain about the Saint of Black Tears?
What are you trying to convey?
Shall we go back to the topic?
I understand that the captain wants to be friends.
!
Actually, I...
There's something I need to tell everyone.

...Me.
Me.
What's wrong?
...
Is there something difficult to say?
About Abel...

I couldn't report it to my superiors!

Captain... I can't overlook that.
Captain.
You're serious you couldn't report it?
First, let's hear the captain's opinion.
First, about the Black Tear Saint.
I'll tell you what I found out.

The classification of the Black Tear Saint is...
Demon.
And
The association's policy is
When discovered, monitor as much as possible.
Prioritize information gathering
Until sufficient information is obtained
They will be targeted for capture

I don't think Abel is
a demon
Even if he were a demon,
there are biographies of him saving people
We saw it with our own eyes, didn't we?

To capture someone like that
I can't accept it
At least, after getting to know Abel properly...
I'm sorry to everyone, but I couldn't report it
When I thought about it that way

I understood
But the association's view is that he's a 'demon', right?
There's some truth to that.
Shedding black tears.
I've heard that his biography has been around for over 100 years.
It's not surprising that he's called a demon.

Well, I suppose that's one way of looking at it, Lambert.
Isn't that a bit of an exaggeration?
I'm just offering advice as an exorcist.
I understand that. But for now, look at Captain Leo.

I'm fine.
Let's continue the conversation.
In that case, assuming Captain Leo wants to be friends with Abel,
Captain Leo is truly the saint of black tears...
Shall we discuss what we're going to do now?
No, you want to be friends with Mr. Abel.

What if he's a demon?
Captain
It's not decided yet.
If I determine that Abel is a demon,
then, after seeing Abel's situation,
I'll decide.

I can't control my feelings.
It can't be helped.
I thought about what to do next before everyone gathered.

I only reported to my superiors,
"Evidence of multiple battles."
So,
I expect that the higher-ups, after reading the report, will contact me tomorrow.
I should be the one they're calling.

I want to get to know Abel.
Not as a member of the Association,
I want to talk to Abel as Leo personally.

Does that mean...?
Are you saying Captain Leo is leaving the Association?
No, that's not it.
I intend to offer to investigate the "traces of multiple battles."
I intend to offer to investigate.
So...

You mean you'll contact the Black Tear Saint while investigating those "traces of multiple battles"?
That's right, that's what I'm thinking.
If Abel is traveling near this country,
it's only a matter of time before the other exorcists of the Association confront him.
Then we'll take the initiative.
It's partly due to the sloppiness of my report.
The higher-ups should entrust me with the verification.

Even though I'm the captain, I'm often assigned these kinds of on-site investigations.
It's not unnatural for me to volunteer this time either.
It's not an impossible scenario.
I have no choice but to accept it.
That's true.
Captain Leo...
Did he think that far ahead?

I'm really sorry for involving everyone in my personal feelings.
If you're aware that you've involved everyone, let's set a deadline. Three months.
Considering the evaluation system period, that's the limit.
Let's finish the investigation into Abel within three months. If that doesn't work, I'll report it to my superiors.

Besides, I don't think the higher-ups will wait that long.
The longer the reporting period, the more disadvantageous it will be for the captain.
It's our job, demon hunting is ours.
So, Lambert.
Captain, I'll follow you. I can't believe you're a demon, and that's fine for now.

Am I making myself out to be the bad guy?
Burn.
You just realized that now?
I was thinking of the captain's best interests...!
I know. Lambert's feelings make sense.

A three-month grace period. Got it.
I'll try to contact Abel somehow before then.
I'll organize the situation properly and report it to my superiors.
Will everyone continue to follow me?

Of course.
Knowing how the captain feels,
Besides, if the Saint of Black Tears
didn't go along, it would leave a bad taste in my mouth.
I'm a little curious about what kind of guy he is.
It's not like I'm saying this because I hate Captain Leo.
Let's see it through for three months. This is my duty.

Thank you.
Now, let's eat.
Captain, it's already cold.
I'll eat.
You don't have to say things like that.
The soup was indeed cold, but my heart was warm.

Captain, I had a date today.
But I came here. Things don't always go as planned.
No matter what kind of person the Black Tear Saint is, please remain the captain.
I mean...
Thank you.

That would be a great help.
And, I'm sorry.
I'll make it up to you properly next time.
