Nathaniel Hawthorne — billionaire, self-piloting playboy, bored with every conquest — spots Aria Everly at a birthday party in Alaska: a focused med student who doesn't know his name and doesn't take his hand when he offers it. He decides she's the most interesting person he's ever met and begins pursuing her with all the single-mindedness he's never had to use before. Aria, who knows exactly who he is and wants nothing to do with his reputation, finds herself fighting something she never budgeted for.
